It’s true that we never stop thinking about Pilates, but with Valentine’s Day just behind us, it got us thinking about Pilates in a new and amorous light! What is Pilates? Pilates is a physical conditioning system designed to work the whole body, targeting several muscle groups at once, focusing on the ‘core muscles’ including the abdominals and the pelvic floor muscles. And what on earth does it have to do with your sex life? Well, a lot more than you would think! Discover 4 ways to supercharge your sex life – and get toned at the same time!
It might be fairly obvious that toned pelvic floor muscles are a very good thing for sex – but because they are hidden, they are often forgotten in traditional workouts, or are only thought about before or after having a baby – but there is so much more to be gained from consciously engaging and working your pelvic floor muscles. Gentlemen – did you know that working your pelvic floor can make you last longer, by giving you more control? You’re welcome! In Pilates, we work with the pelvic floor as the foundation for the body’s core and we engage these muscles (note – not overwork – no clenching!) to create a stronger core and toned abdominals. Pilates encourages you to be present in your body, to engage with it and be present in the moment, true mind/body integration allows you to experience everything at a heightened level.
