FAQS
ABOUT CLASSES
My doctor/physiotherapist recommended Pilates – where should I start?
Many medical professionals are now recommending Pilates and we have excellent relationships with many who refer clients to our studio. If Pilates has been recommended to you, we suggest that you ring the studio so we can discuss your options and make an appointment for a movement analysis with one of our team.
I’m not fit / flexible! Is a Flex in the City class suitable for me?
Absolutely! We recommend that you make an appointment for a movement analysis session with us so that we can assess your needs and direct you to the class or private session that will be perfect for you. You can also phone the studio at any time to discuss your needs.
How often you come is entirely up to you! However we do suggest 2-3 times per week, especially if you are not doing any other type of exercise. For Barre classes – 3 is the magic number! Three classes a week will guarantee you a toned, lean, athletic body that moves with the grace and ease of a dancer!
What happens if I want to book into a class that is full?
We operate a waitlist system. If a class is full, you will be offered the option of being added to the waitlist. Then if someone cancels, you will receive an automated email to let you know that you have been added to the class.
What is your cancellation policy?
A 12 hour cancellation policy applies to all classes and private training sessions. Once cancelled the class/session will be returned to your package. For late cancellations (cancelled less than 12 hours before the class) the class will be charged to your account. All cancellation can be done on our App, online or by Phone

Wear something that’s comfortable and will allow you to move freely. Most people choose leggings or shorts with a t-shirt or sports top. You won’t need shoes – you’ll train in socks. For hygiene reasons, socks must be worn when training.
Before my first class: What do I need to know?
Please click here for directions to the studio. (INCLUDE LINK) You should make sure you arrive a few minutes early before your first class. Our classes are small and we like to give every client personal attention –it is important that we know about any injuries etc. before the start of your class. We have changing facilities and somewhere for you to leave your shoes, keys, jacket etc. Please make sure that you wear socks – for hygiene reasons these are an absolute in the studio. Please make sure to switch your mobile phone to silent during class. We have small towels available for your Barre in the City class. Mineral water may be purchased from Reception. Before your first post-natal Reformer class, if you are bringing your baby, please make sure that your baby is fed, changed and all tucked up in a carry cot, ready to be cooed over by Miriam while you work out!
How many people will be in each class?
There will never be more than seven people in any of our group classes. This guarantees you personal attention to ensure that you get the maximum benefit from your Flex in the City classes.
ABOUT REHABILITATION AND WELLNESS
Why would I do one-to-one private training?
Whether you have been referred to Pilates by a healthcare professional, or you suffer from chronic back pain or other injury, have just had a child or you want to get back into exercise but just don’t know where to start, our highly qualified trainers will help you every step of the way. Feel free to pop in to the studio or give us a call with any questions you may have.
I’m pregnant. Is this form of Pilates suitable?
Flex in the City Pilates can become a fantastic part of both your pre- and post-natal routine. If you are already a Flex in the City client, and you become pregnant, then continued participation in the class may require a medical consent letter signed by your general practitioner. Please discuss this with your teacher. If you are pregnant and have not participated in a Flex in the City class before, group reformer classes are not suitable for you. We recommend instead that you attend private one-to-one sessions
I have an injury — or am recovering from one — can I still do a Flex in the City class?
You’ll need to speak with us if you have suffered a significant injury — either recently or in the past – before attending a class. You can return to exercise once your healthcare professional has agreed that it is suitable. Whatever the extent or stage of your injury, you can be assured that we will do our very best to restore optimal movement.
