Barre is hard with a capital H…OOOOMIGAWD why am I shaking so much?!

So we have designed a series of form focus workshops for better barre technique to allow you to get the most out of your class. Whether you are newbie or a Flex veteran looking to deepen your understanding of the technique, these classes are what you’ve been looking for! Each form focus class zones in on a specific class section – planks & push ups, arms, legs, seat and abs and we provide the tools to take your Flex Barre workout to a deeper level,  taking your results from amazing to phenomenal!

We always say that when Barre starts to feel harder instead of easier, that’s when you know you are doing it right! You are learning to work with the technique to challenge your body like never before. And with that challenge comes all the rewards you have been expecting! Read on for some advice for newbies and veterans alike.

Newbies: Why Form Focus Workshops?

Welcome! We know it can be hard to start something new and we are thrilled to have you on our barre team! Do not get discouraged! Barre. Is. Hard. The class is physically and mentally challenging and can feel like a whirlwind of quick transitions and burning legs and seats and abs and then finito! That’s why our form focus workshops are a great idea for you – barre takes time to grasp and it’s a continual learning process; in these workshops we slow everything down and get to the nitty gritty of your questions, allowing you to find the connection to your muscle that is so key to your results.

It is important to listen to your own body – we want you to push yourself but listen to your body’s limitations. It is not a competition, we are all a work in progress and you can ask as many questions as you like before or after class. Teachers are there to guide and support you to find the right position and challenge you but this is YOUR class, your time for yourself. There is no one watching you, everyone else is taking this time for themselves too.

Veterans: Why Form Focus Workshops?

Ahhh the barre epiphany. You are just at the barre, minding your own business when BAM! A certain word or correction from your teacher takes the last 30 seconds of your thigh sprint from ‘burny’ to ‘the person 3 spots down the barre from me can probably feel my legs shaking’. And with that, you are forever changed. Ok well maybe it’s not that dramatic but when you learn to take your workout to the next level, the feeling is amazing! There is no end to what you can achieve with barre, where will you be in 50, 100, 500 classes? There is always more to learn and the beauty is that you can apply it to the rest of your life.

Barre shows you that you ARE determined, you DO have grit and staying power, you CAN endure and YOU ARE STRONG. You can take yourself out of your comfort zone right to the edge and believe in yourself. Discovering you are stronger than you realised is powerful and you can apply that to so many areas of your life. Embracing that sense of accomplishment with other women striving to be and do their best is an amazing feeling. You know that at Flex in the City, we got you. And as you work harder at the barre, you will realise that you got you too.

So why do form focus workshops? Because above all, you are busy, life is busy. This is your hour. You are the star and we want you to get the most out of that hour. It can be so helpful to learn how to tune out of everything else and into your body, to block everything else out and focus solely on the muscles you are working. You will work deeper and all that focus will help to clear your mind so you leave feeling amazing!
