FIRST TIME FLEXER

Welcome to

flex in the city!

We are so glad you are considering Pilates at Flex and we look forward to welcoming you to the studio soon.

You might start Pilates for your overall health and fitness, to improve your core strength and posture, as part of your recovery from an injury or for pain relief… no matter what your reason, you will find a class at Flex.

NEW CLIENT PACKAGES

You are more than welcome to drop in to a class before buying a pack of classes. If you are new to Pilates, we suggest starting with one of our ‘Basics’ classes (these are suitable for anyone new to Pilates or a particular piece of apparatus; you should be generally moving well with no significant injury concerns). If you are coming with an injury, significant back or joint pain, osteoporosis or anything else that impacts your exercise, we suggest booking in for a private session to begin with. Our regular group classes are not suitable during pregnancy (unless otherwise stated on the schedule).

If you are a Pilates regular at another studio and want to try a drop in class, you are more than welcome, no need to start with a private lesson.

  • This 1:1 session is tailored to your body and your goals and is a great way to start Pilates at Flex. Your teacher will show you around the studio and take a moment before you start moving to get to know you, your movement history, whether you have any injuries past/present that might impact how you move and what you would like to get from Pilates. Based on that, you will work on the apparatus (Reformer/Tower/Chair/Mat) to allow you to become familiar with Pilates and the equipment, so you will feel confident to continue on your Pilates journey, whether that is into classes or more private lessons. If you have a preference in terms of equipment, you can of course let your teacher know to focus on that and your teacher will also make recommendations based on the session as to what classes might benefit you the most.

Please note, a private lesson with Julette, the studio director is €75.

  • This pack includes 4 classes for you to use after you have completed an initial 1:1 session. This is ideal if you are new to Pilates and want to get comfortable using the equipment at your own pace, while having the full attention of your teacher for guidance and questions. The 1:1 session will typically focus on the reformer but can focus on the tower/chair if you are already familiar with the reformer.

  • This is a great option for someone who would like to delve a little deeper at the beginning or someone who is coming with a history of pain and isn’t currently experiencing symptoms but is nervous about exercising again. The most popular options are two reformer based sessions or one session on the Reformer and the other on the Tower/Chair.

"I would recommend Pilates to anyone! I started just because i wanted to try something new and i knew the gym wasn't for me but pilates has changed my body completely, my posture is so much better and I just feel like I hold myself better"

"I was nervous to start in a group so i took the new client induction pack and it gave me the confidence to move into a class after two private sessions. chloe showed me how to use the reformer and she didn't rush me and she answered all my questions. I would recommend to anyone to start with a private if you're new to pilates."

"I had done some mat pilates but had never used the refomer so i started with the Reformer basics class. Mary explained everything and took us through the most common exercises you see in classes and how to get on and off the machine and change the springs etc. it was a good class, still a good workout but slow enough so you could kind of get to grips with the reformer."

"I started private sessions with my husband to begin with and chloe and martha were really helpful. my husband has had a knee replacement and i have a very niggly back but the teachers worked with us both seemlessly, it was clear they knew their stuff and after about 7 or 8 sessions, they advised that we were ready for group classes. It has been a very positive experience at the studio and we've definitely felt the difference

"I had been doing Pilates fairly regularly for a while and then I tried a class at flex and i realised I hadn't actually been doing Pilates at all! the other classes were hard but it was mostly just like HIIT training on a reformer and I didn't see any major changes after a while. since my first class, I have been blown away by the attention to detail and how clear and precise the teachers are in their instruction. they teach the same exercises to the entire group in a class but they will often give several people different versions to suit their bodies, without breaking the flow. They give hands on corrections as well, which i find helpful for knowing that i'm doing it right. I would say even if you have been doning Pilates, don't be afraid to be a beginner at Flex because you will really see the results.
