OUR PILATES CLASSES

There is a class for everyone at Flex. Find yours today.

Group classes

Group Classes in our bright and airy studios are limited to a maximum of 9 participants per class and led by the best teachers, who are passionate about bringing the best out of each person they teach. To see our up to date timetable, download the Glofox app. If you are new to the studio, we recommend starting with one of our ‘Basics’ classes, or a 1:1 lesson.

Group classes allow you to workout with the energy of the group, while still under the expert eye of your teacher, who will guide and correct you as you move through the class. This really allows to to become independent in your practice, while always having the necessary support to allow you to progress safely.

We appreciate that coming to a group class can be daunting for lots of people so please reach out to us before your first class and allow us to set your mind at ease. We are happy to chat to you about what to expect, or talk you through the more practical steps (arriving, parking, etc.) and no question is too small.

Do bear in mind that a group class might not be suitable for you if you are coming with an injury, if you are pregnant or recently postnatal or if you have been referred by a doctor or physiotherapist. For you, private classes might be a more suitable place to start to allow you to build a strong base so that your group classes are a safer and more enjoyable experience.

PRIVATE CLASSES

There are lots of reasons to do a private class at any stage of your Pilates life. If you are new to Pilates and you would like to get to grips with the new apparatus like the Reformer, Chair or Tower at your own pace and with the undivided attention of the teacher, then a 1:1 session is an excellent way to get started.

If you are coming with an injury or persistent pain concern like low back pain, then a private session is an ideal way to start, so that your teacher can assess your movement, get you moving in a safe way that will allow you to strengthen and stretch your body without aggravating any painful areas and advise on the best way for you to progress. Lots of clients will chose to take a private lesson every once in a while even when they are attending group classes regularly to check in on technique or to progress in an area they have been struggling with. Whatever your reason, a private lesson is a great opportunity to tune into your body under the expert guidance of our teachers.

  • Strengthen and stretch your entire body at an intensity that is right for you. Our signature Reformer Pilates class should be the main element of your Pilates routine. The reformer is probably the best known piece of Pilates equipment (after the mat) and it looks a bit like a bed frame with a sliding platform (the carriage) where the mattress would be. The reformer springs create resistance, allowing you to safely and effectively strengthen and stretch your entire body. A reformer class does just that, it reforms your body! It addresses any imbalances or less ideal movement patterns, strengthens you where you are weak and stretches you where you are tight to improve your posture and alignment and to allow you to feel both strong and agile.

In all our Flex classes, we want you to build a strong foundation and be confident in your ability. As you grow stronger, we layer the exercises to keep you working hard for the duration of the class. No matter what your level, expect to be challenged but guided and supported so you never feel out of your depth, and you will never be bored! Expect to lie, sit, kneel, stand (modifiable for injuries, of course), expect a total body workout in every class, with a mix of strengthening and stretching exercises.

We suggest you start with a ‘Reformer Basics’ class or a 1:1 lesson. Once you have moved out of ‘Reformer Basics’ or private lessons, you will join our mixed ability classes - we guide you through each movement and offer more challenging and more manageable options so everybody feels comfortable and safe, while getting incredible results. We work with very small groups so you are guaranteed lots of 1:1 attention and advice from the teacher in every class.

GROUP PILATES CLASSES

  • Strengthen, stretch and tone the entire body by combining the best of mat Pilates with the assistance and challenge of springs. The Tower is a wall frame that uses adjustable spring resistance (just like the Reformer and Chair). You will stretch and strengthen your muscles with every movement while strengthening your core, by controlling the springs. Tower classes are incredible for improving posture and alignment as well as core strength and overall flexibility. If you are new to Pilates, we suggest starting with a ‘Reformer Basics’ class or a private 1:1 lesson before you take a Tower class. If you already have some Pilates experience, the you are more than welcome to join any Tower class.

  • Sure, you can do it with the springs, but can you do it without? Our Flex signature mat classes are recommended to everyone, especially those of you who are taking our equipment classes, as working with the springs will allow you to build incredible core strength and control, which will allow you to unlock the challenge of the matwork.

  • Our signature Chair classes combine all aspects of Pilates, using the mat and combining the added challenge of the springs, so there is absolutely no room to cheat! You will strengthen and stretch your muscles in each movement while controlling the springs from your core. Chair classes help you to understand your body by challenging balance, alignment, flexibility and mobility; if you want to challenge your whole body and walk away feeling taller, stronger and more connected, this is definitely the class for you. This is a mixed ability class - we guide you through each movement and offer more challenging and more manageable options so everybody feels comfortable and safe, while getting incredible results. We work with very small groups so you are guaranteed lots of 1:1 attention and advice from the teacher in every class.

  • Our classes are an excellent way to develop and maintain your Pilates practice but sometimes you need 1:1 guidance to tailor your results to your unique needs and goals. That is where private sessions come in! Whether you are brand new to Pilates or you are coming with back pain or an injury and need to address specific areas, our highly skilled teachers will work with you on all the appropriate equipment to maximise your results. A private session is also perfect if you want to dive deeper into the form and technique of Pilates, to increase the challenge and learn how to get even more out of your classes.
